Welcome to another post where I take a look at some of the details of running a Real Estate Blog. This is my third Real Estate Website Income Report, and I hope you find it helpful.
If you want to read my other Income Reports for this website, I’ve created a blogger income report page where they are all archived.
I believe that blogging is very similar to Real Estate. You create a website that is like a property, and over time you write articles to make it better. The writing is like the rehab on a house. The more work you put in, the more valuable it becomes.
A few months ago, I wrote a post about the Goals of this website. That post outlines my Why. The reasons behind I do what I do.
How a Real Estate Blog Makes Money
Today for the first time, I’m sharing how I actually make money with this website.
Getting started it isn’t a lot, but over time, and with a lot of hard work, I expect it to grow into something that will allow me to achieve my long-term goals. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.
If you are like me, and I have to assume you are since you are reading this, you want to know exactly how it happens. So today I’m pulling back the curtain and giving you a sneak peek into the earnings from EricEstate. My goal is to post the total earnings every month.
The beginnings are very meager, but it can grow quickly with work.
- May 2022 – I made a whopping $33.77
- June 2022 – $4,101.65
- July – $725.87
- August – $1045.18
As you can see, this way of blogging (and selling Real Estate associated with this website) can be a great way to make a living. I don’t know of any other kind of website that gets this much income as quickly.
The first day I started measuring was on April 27, 2022. When I do the math it is 127 days, and a total of $46.50 a day!
Since I don’t spend 8 hours a day on my blog (It’s actually like an hour or 2) I think this is a pretty good rate for some easy part-time work.
Real Estate Income
This month I didn’t receive any direct real-estate sales commissions from this blog, however, I did receive some referral fees.
The amount was: $950, and since it came directly from contacts from this website, I am counting it as income.
The old way of generating leads, from cold-calling, to postcards, to open houses don’t work anymore. Most real estate websites like the big portals don’t do it right either.
People don’t just want data – that’s easy to get if you look in the right places. All the information about every house is on the web. Because of this, Real Estate agents who blog need to do something else. That’s what this website is all about. Showing and explaining the new way to do real estate.
Using Amazon Associates
My other source of income for this blog comes from Amazon Associates.
This month something interesting happened about 3 weeks in – I started to receive a more reliable, but small, commission amount. Instead of a sale coming every few days, I’ve been getting a little bit every day.
I attribute this to my site getting more visitors, and as a result more people reading my articles and clicking on the product links i reccomend.
Amazon Associates is a program where you get a commission when someone clicks on a link and then purchases a product on Amazon in the following 24 hours.
I simply share products on Amazon that I like and use in my posts, and when the links are clicked and a purchase is made, I get a little (and I do mean little) somethin’-somethin’.
Any blogger can sign up for Amazon. There are a few simple rules to follow, and then you can start to make money as a writer!
Real Estate Website Stats
Here are a few other stats that I look for when I’m researching websites. When I see others I always want to know how much work will I have to do to make the money. I sometimes wish there were more Real Estate Website Income Report out there. If there are any other stats you want to know about let me know in the comments.
This month I only wrote one post – but it was a pillar post, and I expect the evergreen content on it to help a lot of new agents starting out. I spent a lot of time on How to Start a Real Estate Blog, and if you haven’t done that yet, here’s a simple 5-step method that shows you why and how!

Moving Forward
There was some big news that happened to me, which explains why I only had time to write one post.
The family is moving to Green Bay Wisconsin.
Recently Green Bay was voted the #3 best city to live in the USA.
When we moved to Austin almost 20 years ago, it was also ranked as one of the best places to live. While we were in Texas we saw a lot of growth, and got to be a part of the fun of watching the skyscrapers and new places pop up all over.
I’m not one to shy away from change or new opportunities, so we sold our primary residence in Leander, and took the profit to move to Green Bay and buy a house outright (no mortgage).
In fact, right now, today, I’m at the Ennis Inn overlooking the Fox River, writing this post and getting ready to go house hunting and neighborhood searching. Of course I’ll be sharing that on my Instagram as well as some informative posts on this site.
This doesn’t change my grand plan of owning 12 Short-Term Rental Properties all over the world – in fact, because we will own our next home without a mortgage I can use my income to buy a place somewhere that will cash flow.
Over the next few months, I’ll be adding new posts with some of these products, as well as updating older blog posts with the appropriate information.
While I do, I’ll be adding some more internal links to my site. If you don’t know, an Internal link is when one of the pages on a site link to other pages on the same site. An external link is when two different websites link to each other.
